Jefferson Gonçalves is one of the leading harmonica players in Brazil and internationally. With a musical language of his own, he brings blues and African American music together with Brazilian rhythms such as forró, baião, xaxado and maracatu. This blend runs through his recordings and live performances, where improvisation creates a meeting place for different musical traditions.

Throughout his career, he has recorded and performed with Brazilian and international artists, including Belchior, Lulu Santos, Chico Chico, Rosa Marya Colin, Peter Madcat Ruth and Celso Blues Boy. In 2017, he became the first Brazilian artist to join Seydel’s roster of endorsed musicians. Seydel is the world’s oldest harmonica manufacturer.

Jefferson has performed at venues including Teatro San Martín in Buenos Aires; the Blue Note in New York; Deep Ellum Blues in Texas; and the Bamboo Room in Florida. His career has also taken him to Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, London, the Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, Chile and Senegal.

He has also appeared at international harmonica festivals, including SPAH (1998, Romulus, Michigan, USA), Puerto Armónica (2016, Valparaíso, Chile), Calella Harmonica Festival (2024, Calella, Spain) and Mundharmonika Live (2024, Klingenthal, Germany).
